Why are we allergy safe?
Bowen, that smiley boy above - is my little boy and the heart behind Make A Mess. Watching him navigate the world with his allergies, I wanted to create a space where he—and children like him—could play freely, feel included, and be truly themselves. Every session, activity and decision is shaped by my experience as his mum, making Make A Mess a place built from love, understanding and real-life everyday parenting.
Our activities and materials are chosen to avoid common food allergens wherever possible, so children with allergies or sensitive tummies can relax, play, and explore in a space that feels safe for them and their grown-ups.
Why Messy Play Matters: More Than Just a Big Clean-Up
Messy play is so much more than getting covered in paint, foam or rice. When children pour, scoop, mix and squish, they are building important skills like coordination, problem-solving and confidence. It gives them the freedom to explore at their own pace, follow their curiosity and express big feelings through play. In our sessions, the mess is invited and celebrated, because it’s how little ones learn about their world in a hands-on, joyful way.
